Enipeus, the Devine River / Ενιπέας, το Εξαίσιο Ποτάμι

Nothing in this world is as soft and yielding as water
Yet for attacking the hard and strong none can triumph so easily.

It is weak, yet none can equal it
It is soft, yet none can damage it
It is yielding, yet none can wear it away.  (Lao Tzu, 78)

Water is the element of life that symbolizes the subconscious mind. It is the world of the soul and dreams suggesting all the emotions and qualities which cannot be measured by physical means.
Of all the pictures of water (the well, the river, the lake and the sea), it is the river that constantly moves to unite with the sea. The translucent liquid water crystal always refracts, distorts, rectifies, mirrors, fine-tunes and communicates with everything along its way, thus expressing the unique personality of every river.
The river is also used to imply multidimensional movement and communication:

In the same rivers
other waters come in and others flow above them.  (Heraclitus, fr. 12)

Water, thus, becomes a symbol for higher intelligence, no more being a mere source of inspiration, but Inspiration itself – the definition of Creativity.

Enipeus was a river god in ancient Greek mythology, whose crystal-clear waters were the most beautiful to be found on earth. The titles of the drawings refer to Enipeus the divine mountain river of Olympus (although there is another big river with the same name in Thessaly).
